Rough
A font to emulate printing impressions on paper.
Rough developed from the premise that nowadays one must rely heavily on algorithms if the objective is to have a machine emulate reality.
The same goes for fonts, today we have the technology to emulate printing impressions of letters on paper. Through python programming, Rough is designed to emulate the typewriter letter roughness, with 4 alternate versions in different scales of ‘damage’ to the letter.
Thus Rough contains four times the amount of standard Latin character sets.
Rough was created for the identity design of SUM #01 & 02 - Capire il Futuro, a convention on the future. The panels dwell on themes of technology, information, environment, mankind and space, as well as the economy, sociology and politics. The event took place in Ivrea, 2016.
